Welcome to Frequently Asked Questions.   We created this page to help answer the most common questions visitors may have about our Web site.

Q: What is MP3?

A: MP3 (short for MPEG 1, Audio Layer 3) is an audio revolution making music downloadable on the internet. With the MP3 digital standard file format a normally large audio file is compressed to a much smaller size which makes it possible to download near-CD quality music from the web.

Q: How can I listen to the MP3 free songs?

A: Select a tune from the free music link. You will be prompted to Open or Save the file. To listen, select Open and this will open your media player (i.e. iTunes, Music Match, Windows Media Player, etc.) and play the song automatically. For free download, play the song in  your media player, and select the option to Save the MP3 file to your music folder. See Windows Media Player example below:

Q: Are your  MP3s available for legal download?

A: Yes. All of our MP3 tunes are legal for Canadian residents.

Q: Can I download the sample song?

A: Yes. Visit our Featured Artist or Free Tunes pages. Simply right click on the music link & follow these tips:

  • If using Internet Explorer, select ‘Save Target As...’
  • If using Netscape, select ‘Save Link As...’
  • If using Mac, select ‘Download Link to Disk’

Or follow the instructions appearing on our Free Tunes page

You will need to determine the location to save your file on your computer (i.e  desktop or My Music folder). The  quality MP3 files will be yours to listen on your computer, burn to CD or upload to your portable MP3 player (ie IPOD). Enjoy!

Q: Is there a limit to the amount of free songs I can download?

A: No, consider it our gift to you! We want to give you a sample of the variety and quality MP3s available to purchase.

Q: What disk space is required for downloadng an MP3 song

A: One minute of music uses approximately 1.5 MB on your computer

Q: Can I get a virus from downloading an MP3 file?

A: Unlike most peer to peer sites, our music files are stored on a firewalled server to prevent unauthorized access and are protected by the latest anti-virus software.

Q: How can I purchase more quality MP3 music?

A: Visit our secure store: Shopping at tuneresource.com. You will be directed to PayPal.com and can choose to pay by Visa, Master Card, American Express or your Pay Pal accont. Or visit Tucows.com to choose from a variety of zip software. Once you’ve downloaded your zip software, follow the simple instructions to unzip the folder and play your tunes.

Q: Why are the packages saved in zip format?

A: The average music package is 35 songs or 90 MB. We want to ensure you get your music in a quick and convenient format.

Q: Some MP3s sound like an old record or vinyl. Is there something wrong the MP3 file?

A: For some MP3s songs, the listener should be aware that minor imperfections (ie surface noise, distortion) are  due to the recording equipment and techniques of that time. This should be viewed as a minor consequence in light of the considerable musical and historical importance of these tunes.
